Park Station to host email kiosk for support of public transit.
TARTA and Mobility Alliance partner so riders may contact state and federal representatives.
Representatives from the Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority and Mobility Alliance of Northwest Ohio will be at TARTA’s Park Station, corner of Erie Street and Madison Avenue, Friday, January 22 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. encouraging passengers to contact their elected officials via email to support public transportation.
Persons interested in urging their state and federal representatives to increase the investment in public transportation may do so that day by way of an on-site computer. No email address is necessary from individuals wishing to voice their opinion addressing the increasing need for public transit funding. fundohiotransitnow.org
The push for awareness of the current crisis of state and federal funding is sponsored by the Ohio Public Transit Association through their website fundohiotransitnow.org. For example, the typical state provides 23% of the funding needed for their transit systems, Ohio provides less than 3%. Lower state funding has resulted in TARTA's 12% cut in service at the beginning of this year.
More information is available at mobilityalliance-nwo.org, TARTA.com and by calling 419-243-RIDE.
Thank you attendees and sponsors!
